Preparation for Worship - January 3

Time of  Meditation & Preparation                    Matthew 4:4
“Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.”
The Call to Worship                           From Psalms 135 & 136
LEADER: Praise the LORD!  Praise the name of the LORD, give praise, O servants of the LORD, praise the LORD, for the LORD is good; sing to His name, for it is pleasant!  For we know that the LORD is great, and that our LORD is above all gods.  Whatever the LORD pleases, He does, in heaven and on earth, in the seas and all deeps.
PEOPLE: It is He who remembered us in our low estate, and gives food to all flesh.  We give thanks to the God of heaven, for His steadfast love endures forever.  Your name, O LORD, endures forever, Your renown, O LORD, throughout all ages.

The Opening Prayer
Heavenly Father, we enter Your presence with goodly fear, awed by Your majesty, greatness, and glory, but encouraged by Your love.  We are guilty and have nothing of our own with which to repay You, but we bring Jesus to You trusting His righteousness to appease Your wrath and satisfy Your justice according to Your promises.  May Christ reign supreme in every thought, word, and deed and may His holy name be exalted as we worship together.  We ask this in the name of Your Son, Amen.
